Serato DJ: crates that appear when you plug in
Serato reads a _Serato_ folder at the root of any drive. Scratch Storage writes a parent crate plus one crate per folder and per playlist to _Serato_/Subcrates, with track paths relative to the drive root — the format Serato itself uses for external drives.
Steps
- Export with Serato crates ticked (it is on by default).
- Eject the stick and plug it into the laptop running Serato DJ Pro or Lite.
- Open the crate list: a Scratch Storage crate appears with your folders and playlists as sub-crates, in your play order.
Good to know
- Serato rebuilds its own
database V2on first read, so none is needed on the stick. - On first load Serato writes its analysis (beatgrid, cues) into the audio files; don't make the drive read-only.
- Keep
_Serato_at the root. If you move the folder structure the relative paths break.
